Former Dutch finance minister named CFO of KPN

Hague-based telecoms group KPN has announced that former Dutch finance minister, Jan Kees de Jager, will be its new chief financial officer.

De Jager’s contract will start Aug. 15 and he will assume responsibilities for the CFO role in November after a transition period. He succeeds Steven van Schilfgaarde, who has been acting CFO since September 2013.

De Jager was a member of the Dutch Cabinet from 2007 until 2012, first serving as deputy finance minister and then as finance minister from 2010 until 2012. He has also held positions at ISM eCompany, which he co-founded.

“Jan Kees combines extensive financial experience with operational leadership in the technology sector. He is widely recognised for his financial expertise as Minister of Finance during a turbulent financial period in Europe,” supervisory board chairman Jos Streppel said in a statement.

KPN also announced it is also planning to strengthen its board with a chief operating officer and a chief commercial officer.
