The eminent economist Dr Gerard Lyons has been appointed Senior Advisor at financial services consultancy Parker Fitzgerald, following a period at Mayor Boris Johnson’s office.
Before joining the mayor, Lyons spent 12 years at Standard Chartered, where he headed up the Global Research department. He has also held directorships and chief economist roles at DKB International and Swiss Bank Corporation, and is a regular speaker at the World Economic Forum at Davos and the International Monetary Fund’s annual meeting.
As a member of Parker Fitzgerald’s Group Advisory Board, Lyons will play a supporting role in developing strategy and identifying the trends and implications of political, regulatory and economic change worldwide.
“Compliance with financial regulation is no longer sufficient for those wishing to shape the future of the finance industry. Thinking forward is essential,” said Scott Vincent, Global Managing Partner at Parker Fitzgerald.
“Gerard is one of the country’s leading economic thinkers, renowned for the accuracy of his global economic forecasts. As such, he is perfectly placed to help Parker Fitzgerald interpret and predict the impact of market trends and shifts on the finance industry,”
“The symbiotic relationship between economic policy and regulation has never been stronger,” agreed Lyons. “There are clear benefits for market participants across the financial services industry to understand the influence that macro conditions have, or may have, on new legislation.
“I am delighted to be asked to join the Advisory Board and look forward to Parker Fitzgerald’s continued future success.”
